Collection: What is "Hanko" ?

Hanko, also called seals, have been deeply rooted in Japanese culture for more than 2,000 years.

In Japan, hanko are often used as tools for personal identification, with one's name inscribed in kanji characters.
Each kanji has its own meaning, and many Japanese names are associated with the occupations of their ancestors or with the kanji of place names.
In Japan, however, it is now fashionable to stamp notebooks, letters, and message cards with various characters and pictures. Why not use them for different purposes?
